"We're
very high grade, a low tonnage operation," says Richard Goodwin,
President and COO of Fire River Gold (TSX.V-FAU). He's talking about his
company's Nixon Fork gold mine which is situated just over 300
kilometers Northwest of Anchorage in Alaska.
Its remoteness means that
access is by air, "It's a flying operation with a 1,200 meter long air
strip," explains Richard, "It'll take a Hercules aircraft which is the
way most of the equipment has arrived to site." Richard outlines the
Company's progress: "We are currently in production. We have one main
project which is the Nixon Fork gold mine which is in Central Alaska in
the Tintina Gold Belt. It's a former producer which was previously owned
and operated from 1995 to 1999 under Nevada Goldfields and then from
2006 to 2008 under St Andrew Goldfields." The site has potential. He
explains, "We have brought it back into production. We started
commissioning on June 27 and began production July 4th, and we will be
into full production by the end of October 2011. Although he's
relatively new to Fire River Gold, Richard has been in underground
mining for a long time - 25 years: "10 years as operations, 10 years in
consulting and consulting management. That's all in Vancouver," he
explains, "and 5 years as an executive manager; exclusively
underground." That was before he came to guide his company through their
development of Nixon Fork. "I took over the job of project manager and
vice president in November 2009, managing the Nixon's Fork project as we
advance it towards operations here. I then took over as president at the
end of April 2011."

Fire River Gold revives Nixon Fork project in
mining-friendly Alaska
Written By: Northern Correspondent Bill Braden
The long days of the Alaska summer are lighting up a
remote, decades-old gold property that Vancouver junior Fire
River Gold Corporation hopes will launch it into the lucrative
league of gold producers riding the metal's sustained bull run.
"Very few juniors have a chance to get into production,
and this one has an excellent chance to become profitable
producer," says President and Chief Operating Officer, Richard
Goodwin.
He's leading an experienced team of Canadian and
American professionals in reviving a property that charts its
history back to the 1920s and a clanking gold-stamp mill that
pounded out four ounces per ton.
Since then the remote south-central Alaska find, among a
swath of mines clustered along the vast Tintina gold belt, has
had a series of on-off production runs. The latest was by
another Canadian miner, St. Andrew Goldfields Ltd., which gave
it up after only five months in 2007, halted by dismal gold
recoveries and near-fatal corporate distress when the company
faltered under the global economy meltdown.

Fire River Joins Alaska's Gold Producers
Written By: Shane Lasley Mining News
Fire River Gold Corp. has fired up the mill at its Nixon Fork
Mine, placing the Vancouver B.C.-based junior on the short list
of Alaska hardrock gold producers. "Startup is going very well.
We started with about 3,000 tons stockpiled (ore) ahead of it,
which to most operations that does not sound like a lot but our
monthly production is only about 4,000 tons a month," Fire River
President Richard Goodwin told Mining News July 21. Though the
150-metric-ton-per-day operation is much smaller than its peers
in the state, gold grades in the 1-ounceper-metric-ton range
helps make up for some of what the mine lacks in stature. When
running at its full capacity, the reinstated operation is
expected to churn out around 50,000 ounces of the precious metal
a year. With the smooth startup, Fire River is looking forward
to pouring its first gold around the third week of August.

Charles Oliver: Out of Africa, into Americas
Source: Brian Sylvester of The Gold Report 03/04/2011
Sprott Asset Management Senior Portfolio Manager Charles Oliver says the social unrest in the Middle East could lead to a premium for junior companies operating in North and South America. He's even betting on it, saying, "I believe juniors will give you the best long-term outperformance and alpha." He's taken profits on companies with exposure to Africa and moved that cash into others with primary assets in the Americas, where, he says, there is much lower risk. Charles discusses a basket full of those names in this exclusive interview with The Gold Report.

Takeover Talk with Michael Fowler
Source: Brian Sylvester of The Gold Report 02/18/2011
Michael Fowler is a senior mining analyst with Loewen, Ondaatje,
McCutcheon in Toronto and he was more than willing to speculate on
potential takeovers in this exclusive interview with The Gold
Report. "All of these gold producers are going to be active in the
mergers and acquisitions (M&A) market. They are going to acquire
because there's a huge amount of cash on their balance sheets," he
says. Michael also talks about some undervalued names in his
coverage universe, including one junior he thinks could climb 210%
before year-end.
The Gold Report: Michael, please tell us a little bit about Loewen,
Ondaatje, McCutcheon (LOM).
Michael Fowler: LOM Ltd. is the oldest independent research boutique
on Bay Street. It's been around for 40 years or so. What we are
today is an institutional broker that focuses on small- to mid-cap
mining issues. We also do high tech and biotech.

Why I Like Fire River
Gold (FAU/V)
Fire River Gold is on track to restore the Nixon Fork mine back into
production in 2011. The property and mine is situated in the proli c
Tintina gold belt, which traverses through the Yukon (Canada) into
Alaska (U.S.A.). To accomplish this, the company has assembled a strong
management team led by Harry Barr, President and CEO. I have known Harry
for the past ten years and I trust him and know that he will work hard
to attain the objectives that he and his team have planned for the
company. In charge of Mining Operations is Richard Goodwin, who has an
extensive background in that realm. Len Therrien has been appointed Mine
Manager. He too has 30 years of experience, as does Bruce Ferguson, the
Mill Superintendent.

Small, But Very Profitable: Fire River's Nixon Fork Gold Mine Moves Ever Closer To Production
By
Alastair Ford
The Nixon Fork gold mine isn't quite in production yet, but it won't be long now. Fire River Gold, which brought the property back from the brink of obscurity a couple of years ago, has been making steady progress with redevelopment, to the point where, at the end of the summer just gone, it felt confident enough to ship a veritable who's who of investors and commentators up to Alaska for a first hand look.
Most came away favourably impressed. Which makes it perplexing, on the face of it, that the company's shares have been on a downward trend since then. Doubly perplexing when you consider the progress that has since been made: further drilling has intersected more good grades, a preliminary economic assessment has delivered a favourable verdict on the viability the old tailings there, and a resource update has confirmed the presence of over 128,000 indicated ounces of gold, and nearly 75,000 inferred ounces.

Peter Kennedy is a Stockhouse reporter and web content editor
(ANCHORAGE, ALASKA) - Since it was first discovered by
Alaskan placer miners back in 1917, a number of mining companies have found it
difficult to get their heads around the complex geology that is a major feature
of the high grade Nixon Fork gold mine. After investing US$54 million in the remote site, which is
located about 550 kilometres northwest of Anchorage, St. Andrew Goldfields
Ltd. (TSX:
T.SAS,
Stock Forum) suspended production in October 2007 when the mill head grade
dropped to 17.1 grams per tonne from 42 grams.

Fire River Gold Gets Ready To
Break Through The Alaskan Silence With The Sounds Of A Fully Functioning Mining
Operation
By
Alastair Ford
If the silence up at the Nixon Fork gold mine in Southern Alaska seems slightly
eerie, then at least there's nothing sinister about it. It's not the calm before
the storm, even if the Alaskan winters do come early, and the clouds are already
rolling in grey and low as August draws to a close. It's not even a lurking
sense of menace at the hidden, but well-attested presence of bears in the woods
nearby. No, the silence, and its associated eeriness derive from two distinctly
separate, but benign factors. One: despite Nixon Fork's setting at the centre of
hundreds of square kilometres of mountainous and wooded Alaskan wilderness,
there are no birds in the trees. The birds know how harsh Alaskan winters can
be, and they've already embarked for warmer climes, even as summer draws to a
close. The first snow falls have already landed on the higher mountains. The
second reason that it's eerily quiet is that, despite the presence of nearly
US$140 million worth of plant and equipment, Nixon Fork is at present lying
idle.

Jul 23, 2010 Mining Weekly: Fire River wants output in 12 months from past-producing Alaska mine

FAU Mininig Weekly Aug 302010

TORONTO (miningweekly.com) -- Vancouver-based junior Fire River Gold plans to be
producing gold from its Nixon Fork mine, in Alaska, within the next year, CEO
Harry Barr said in Toronto this week.
The company is working on a preliminary economic assessment for operating an
underground mining operation at Nixon Fork, which produced gold between 1995 and
1999, and then again briefly in 2007 and 2008, he said at an seminar hosted by
Proactive Investors.
The mine has been on care-and-maintenance for the last two years.

Fire results on Fire River!
www.eNeReport.com
In recent company news, they have been announcing assay results for their Nixon
Fork project in Alaska, which I visited last September.
Over the past couple of months, the company has been announcing some truly
bonanza size intersections, from its ongoing re-evaluation program. During 2007
- 2008, the previous operator completed 9400 meters from mostly underground
drill stations in 110 holes. The results for these holes were never reported by
the operator and have never been included in a resource assessment. Some
examples of this are 27 g/t over 24 meters, 67 g/t over 3 meters, and 498 g/t
over 3 meters.

Oct 26, 2009 Fire River takes a run at Nixon Fork - an article by Susan Kirwin, The Northern Miner

McGrath, Alaska --- The camp at the Nixon Fork gold mine sleeps 85 but the
beds have been empty for two years now. Our group of about 15 has an endless
selection of identical little rooms to choose from, each outfitted with a
nicely made twin bed, a nightstand, a storage shelf and window. Not bad for
"camping."
