Fire River Gold operates the Nixon Fork Mine through its wholly owned subsidiary, Mystery Creek Resources. The Nixon Fork Mine is located 300 miles northwest of Anchorage, Alaska. It is a fly in/fly out single status camp accessible only by air. The mine is a high grade copper gold deposit with processing via crushing and grinding then revering gravity gold and copper by flotation. The plant is currently undergoing an expansion to complete a leaching circuit to recover gold not otherwise responding to gravity and flotation.

MILL GENERAL FOREMAN

The Nixon Fork Operation is currently looking to fill a vacant position of Mill General Foreman. The rotation schedule is two weeks on and two weeks off.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Responsible for mill operations and maintenance through the direction of four operating crews.

  • Recommend improvements in plant operations, assist in metallurgical process operation and design.

  • Acknowledge and understand all environmental requirements to ensure the mill is operated within compliance.

  • Ensure the mill is operated in a safely manner and comply with all MSHA regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Must have extensive experience in mill operations, particularly in flotation and CIL operations (at least 10 years).

  • Working knowledge of mining activities that allows the individual to promote and instill safety in all employees.

  • Must have previous mill supervisory experience having demonstrated effective leadership qualities.

  • Good communication skills, interpersonal and be an effective team player

  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

  • Legal to work in the United States.

LONGHOLE DRILLERS

The Nixon Fork Operation is currently looking to fill vacant positions of Longhole Drillers. The rotation schedule is 12-hr days, 4 weeks on and 2 weeks off.:

  • Longhole Drillers -- Preferred experience should include several years with small-diameter (3-in or less), pneumatic longhole drills.
  • Jackleg and Jumbo Development Miners -- Several years of jackleg and/or jumbo drilling, blasting, mucking, trucking, ground support.
  • Service Crew Personnel -- Desired experience should include hanging pipe and vent bag, moving supplies, concrete work, carpentry, scoop, truck, and forklift operation.

Requirements Include:

  • A strong safety and MSHA-compliance attitude
  • Several years experience in underground mining
  • Willing to work in a camp environment.
  • Legal to work in the United States or be eligible for a TN visa application.
  • Must be able to obtain ATF explosives user-possessor status.

MASTER MECHANIC

The Nixon Fork Operation is currently looking to fill a vacant position of Master Mechanic. The rotation schedule is four weeks on and two weeks off.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Comply with Mystery Creek Resources requirements.
  • Maintenance and repair of both surface and underground equipment either in the shop or underground.
  • Maintenance of power generators.
  • Camp, office and mill maintenance where required.
  • MSHA compliance as it relates to shop maintenance, underground maintenance, equipment yard and heavy equipment safety.
  • Responsible for the inventory, ordering and tracking of parts and other maintenance consumables.
  • Must complete daily maintenance reports, and work area inspection reports.
  • Must keep thorough periodic equipment maintenance records.

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • 10 or more years of mechanical experience or equivalent.

JOURNEYMAN ELECTRICAN

The Nixon Fork Operation is currently looking to fill a vacant position of Journeyman Electrician.

The rotation schedule is four weeks on and two weeks off.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Comply with MSHA and Mystery Creek Resources requirements.
  • Identify, troubleshoot and repair problems in electrical wiring that may occur.
  • Must be able to run tests, isolate problems replace faulty section of wiring, lay conduit and perform other tasks.
  • Preform preventative maintenance and upgrades to wiring, conduit and electronic controls systems.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Must be able to provide a journeyman electrician certificate.
  • Good communication skills, interpersonal and be an effective team player.
  • Must be able to read blueprints, work in small spaces and lift heavy equipment.
  • Legal to work in the United States.

MINE ENGINEER

Fire River Gold has an immediate need for a Mine Engineer for its Nixon Fork Mine Project near McGrath, Alaska. The Nixon Fork Mine operated as a high grade / low tonnage gold producer from 1995 to 1999, then briefly in 2007. Fire River Gold is a Vancouver based junior mining company. The mine is currently in production.

The site has a functional ~200 tpd mill with gravity and flotation circuits. A CIL circuit is currently being installed for the purpose of increasing overall recovery to 97% and to reprocess gold from the existing high grade tailings pond.

The ideal candidate must be a graduate Mining Engineer and have  at least five years of underground mining experience in engineering. Competency in mine planning software is required, preferably Vulcan. This position will report to the Mine Manager at site. Preliminary duties will be to help the current staff to prepare a mine layouts, development and production forecasts, and to monitor day-to-day progress and schedules.

This is a site-based position in an excellent camp. A working schedule of two weeks in and two weeks out is anticipated. Commercial and charter travel costs will be covered by the company from the nearest major airport to the point of hire. A competitive salary will be offered to the right candidate.
