Fire River Gold operates the Mystery and Crystal Mines through its
wholly owned subsidiary, Mystery Creek Resources. The Mine Property
is located 300 miles northwest of Anchorage, Alaska. It is a fly
in/fly out single status camp accessible only by air. The 250 tpd
mine is a high grade copper gold deposit with processing via
crushing and grinding then recovering gold by gravity and a CIL
circuit, and copper by flotation.
UNDERGROUND MINE PLANNING & TECHNOLOGIST
Mystery Creek Resources is currently looking to
fill a position for a Underground Mine Planning & Technologist. This
person will be reporting to the Mine Superintendent or designate.
Job Summary:
Candidate is responsible for carrying out
assignments in underground mine planning, engineering, surveying and
geology. Assignments involve surveying, mark ups and as-builts, 3D
modelling, volume reports, and assisting engineers on larger
assignments or working independently on smaller and less complex
assignments. Incumbents typically have technical college graduation
and 2-5 years of experience after graduation.
Responsibilities:
Practice and promote company safety,
productivity, confidentiality and operational policies and
procedures;
Act as cross shift to Mine Surveyor with full
responsibility for surveying the mine
Coordinate, assist with developing and
distribute weekly mine plans to mining crews; reconcile weekly
plans to monthly plans; report monthly volumes and variances
Blast pattern design and timing, blasting
optimization;
Provide Underground Geological Services,
including but not limited to:
Grade evaluations and estimates, prepare
samples for assay;
Input to optimize material movement;
Site evaluations and markings;
Assist with face and slope monitoring,
and geotechnical analysis and control points.
Care and maintenance of equipment.
Inputs for production and production
planning and;
Read maintain geotechnical
instrumentation; direct others in reading and maintaining
instrumentation.
Provide Computer and Information support by
assisting with:
Reports, Summaries, Tables and Graphs
using software such as Word, Excel, AutoCAD and Vulcan;
Volume calculations, status maps and
spreadsheets;
Maintenance of the Ore Resource / Reserve
Data and;
Maintenance of Mine Environmental
Database.
Maintain a valid driver's license.
Other duties as may be assigned by the
company from time to time as required.
Job Requirements & Qualifications:
ACADEMIC/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
2 year diploma in Mine technology, survey
diploma or equivalent.
Standard First Aid certification a plus;
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
2-5 years experience in both underground
and/or open-pit environment.
Highly proficient with MS Office suite of
software, and Cad softwares associated with Surveying
Good working knowledge of Vulcan software
and/or other mine support software a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS DUE TO WORK CONDITIONS:
This position requires working at a remote
worksite 3 to 4 weeks working at site, and 2-3 weeks at home on time
off. Prolonged periods of time at a desk or working underground in
the field may be required. The position also requires walking to and
from different locations on site and prolonged periods of standing.
Exposure to extreme temperatures in both seasons may be required for
fieldwork. Working in extreme conditions such as snow, mud or ice is
required.
